The Solar programming system provides a feature-rich environment to satisfy the current requirements of the most demanding R&D engineer, yet with one of the industries' most comprehensive upgrade paths to meet all future needs.
As a new generation machine, Solar really takes up the challenge where previous programmers have been superseded due to lack of RAM, too-small sockets or just plain old age. Data is loaded into RAM in several ways: rapid download via the RS232C (115 Kbaud) or parallel interface ports, loaded from a master device or input from the soft-touch silicon rubber keyboard.
Once loaded, data in RAM can be modified using the powerful on-board editor which provides the user with the following: List, Insert, Delete, Edit, Fill, String, Search, Block Move and Complement. The Edit function is particularly powerful, with the ability to display and modify data in Hex and Decimal with an accompanying display of the relevant ASCII characters.
A user definable program sequence can be configured to include empty check, illegal bit check and normal or marginal verify, which ensures devices are programmed completely and with the data expected.
Not content with being a high-power development machine, Solar also qualifies for pre-production duty by providing a half-gang (4 devices) facility and fast programming. These features, coupled with its robust nature and ease of use, have already seen Solars gravitate to more than one pre-production area. |
